New website live

We're starting to migrate to a fancy new website (with a fancy domain name)!

Check it out at www.huttcross.co.nz. You'll find details about the upcoming 2016 season there.

Saturday, 9 April 2016

New year, new season, new legal personality.

Kia Ora, Huttcrosseuers.

Huttcross is planning to become an incorporated society! We've decided to do this in order to establish a more formal and permanent structure for running Huttcross events. It means the organisers will have a bit of a buffer between them and liability, and also supports the ongoing existence of the events.

But! We need your help with this! We're holding an incorporation meeting where we need people to sign their name as members of the Huttcross Cyclocross club. We need names and signatures, and a vote on the members of the first membership committee before we send off an application form. It'll also be a chance for yarns, drinks, and laying down bold challenges for the season.

The meeting will be at Southern Cross bar (CX-appropriate name) on Abel Smith St, Wellington on 20 April from 6pm.

The proposed club constitution is linked here. If you've got any comments on it in advance of the meeting, please email andykingnz [at] gmail.com.

The candidates for the Management Committee are:

President: Andy King
Treasurer: Calum Chamberlain
Secretary: Dean Johansson
Committee Members: Alex Revell, Matt Leyland, Tom Lynskey

And, never fear! We hope to shortly announce details of an upcoming Huttcross season. You didn't think we'd forgotten?

Sunday, 2 August 2015

Finally.

And so, we a approach the final round for 2015.

The event shall be at Moonshine Park. There will be top-quality racing. Spectacular heckling. Colourful costumes. And one fine major spot prize. Make sure you're there til the end of the event to be in with a chance to win the Crucial Custom Cycles frame.

Given this is going be an extravaganza of an event, your event organisers are giving themselves slightly more time to set things up for your entertainment. As a result, the schedule for the day will be bumped back by half an hour, meaning things shall be occurring at the following times:
  • C Grade - 9.30am
  • Kids' Race - 10.20am
  • B Grade - 10.45am
  • A Grade - 12.00pm.
We hope to kick off the (relatively brief) prize giving by approximately 1.15pm.

Huttcross 3: The Wintering

Round 3 is coming up this Sunday 26 June. After the rain and cold we've recently endured, we're hoping for some payoff in the form of glorious mud.

We'll be back at Awa Kairangi Park with a course brought to you by the Professor of Pain, the Teacher of Torment, the extra-curricular tutor of really quite difficult tasks: THE DEAN. For those of you who don't know him, Dean's a damn nice chap who's a great cyclocross enthusiast. He's planned out a quality course to make the most of the features of the park, while keeping you on your technical toes and encouraging some fun racing. Make sure you say hi to him on the day: "Hi Dean!"

As per usual, details about the daily schedule are on the Event Dates and Schedule page.

Preliminary Results - Round 2

Are now available on the 2015 Results page.

There will undoubtedly be some errors in these - please let us know if there's anything horrendously wrong. While it's great having so many people racing, it does mean the results data isn't always the tidiest and we unfortunately don't have the time to double-check everything.

Round 1 Results

The results for Round 1 have now been finalised and are available on the 2015 Results page.

For a write-up of the first round, check out Tom's piece on the Spoke website.

Our thanks to everyone who attended, whether to compete or just make some noise. We look forward to the next round on 14 June!

ROUND 1: 'CROSS

And so, once again, here we are.

Join us tomorrow, 31 May, upon the sodden banks of Te Awa Kairangi, for an introduction, a reunification, a reckoning. There will be mud. There will be suffering. And there will be joy.

Racing begins from 9am. As per the past, the entry fee is $10 per race (or free, if you've never 'crossed before). Noisemaking is encouraged. For more details see the Event Dates and Schedule page.

We trust you'll have fun.
